[WELL WITH TYPING LIKE THAT, SHE'S ZOOMING-

...stopping time and then letting it resume before she's in eye sight so she doesn't immediately spook a robot-]

[Yeah]

[well maybe Reira was expecting something else, but Sonic is just sitting on the couch with the TV on full blast (cartoons!), laptop on a pillow on his lap, and his feeding cables in a bag full of double A batteries]

Wow... That was fast! It's not like. An emergency or anything.

....

[Batteries............................?] ...You were typing kind of weird...

[She was nervous! ...Are you just high!?!]

Oh. Did I? [he looks back at his laptop. Just some extra letters] Ah, I was just being dumb. I didn't want you to think it was super serious. Guess that didn't work, huh? [he closes his laptop and pulls his cables out of the bag. He holds two of them in his hands]

I'm not super hungry or nothin', but... well. You know. ANYWAY! I was just watching TV the other day and I got an idea! Have you ever seen someone jump a car that won't start?

Ummmm...

[She hasn't.] Is it sort of like this then?

[he shoves the cables into her hands. They are, thankfully, inert]

Yeah! So! What you do is, you connect one car's battery to another, one that's dead. And then the cables-- you know what, it doesn't matter. I think I figured out if I keep my back turned and my eyes closed and you or someone else just kind of.... puts these... on a "battery".... then maybe I won't pass out or panic. Maybe. I hope.

Oh!!!

That could work!! [Well no time like the present then- she fishes out her key, nodding.] Okay..Let's do it!

[he nods in return] Yeah! We gotta give it a try. Cause... otherwise I'm gonna have to think of something else... [because "ignoring it and hope it goes away" is not gonna cut it]

[TO THE ARCADE!]

[To the arcade! It's a straight shot from there, to a door, to the curtains.

After which...Reira just looks to Sonic, and nods slowly. Okay. This is it. This is the moment.

They're gonna pull that curtain...and do this.

or actually, wait,] So....I have to just bring the cables to the spot, right?

....

Do you think that would work through the curtain?

[Sonic would be as pale as a sheet if he were still capable of such feats. Instead, his eye LEDs are dim and flickery. He stops outside the curtains, the overcome with the familiar feeling of his joints locking up and his brain swimming.

But at Reira's idea, his eyes brighten]

W... well...! I don't see why not. They can stretch about eight feet... will that be enough?

Okay...In that case, I got it..!

[Excuse her as she starts pulling cables.] I'll shout when it's time, okay?

[he puts his back to the curtain and lets the cables out. The cables offer a bit of resistance at first, but then unspool freely from... wherever they hide in Sonic's back. The claws on the end open and the brilliantly glowing, delicate "nerves" touch Reira's hands and arms gently -- like insects, feeling around with their antennae. There's no shock, but there's a buzzing hum type feeling of a live wire. Once they're done touching Reira, they wrap around themselves and create a glowing "needle". Primed and ready for a living battery to feed from]

Sorry if they're being weird, they're... hard to control.

Um!!

[It is...Definitely super weird! But she's doing her best, moving toward a soon to be victim.]

It's fine, I've got it...now...

[Alright. She should have the timing right, which means she Should be able to stop time and disconnect these before the victim actually perishes...so....

Connect ..!]

[he's a touchy feely person and his feeding cables just gotta Be Like That.

The cables seem to jump out of her hands to stab their needles into the victim, one in each bicep. There's a loud pop and zapping noise. It's very quick, but if Reira is quicker, she might be able to arrest the process before the person is fully electrocuted and dies]

[And quick, she is. This time, she has a trick. Time stops. Time resumes. Time stops. Time resumes. Back, and forth, and back, and forth. She keeps doing it until just the right moment, at which point she stretches and takes a moment to get her breath back.

And pulls the cables back out.

The person looks a bit red-faced despite the doped smile caused by the visor, but otherwise with a quick check...

Time resumes, and a pulse is there.]

Okay! You're done, come inside! ...Trust me!

[We have a pulse!! Probably with an arrhythmia but who's counting? He's alive!

Sonic whimpers from outside, then peeks in]

... Are you sure...? I feel like I ate... but... he's... alive?

[he definitely did not explode like the last time! There's some pretty serious burns where the cables were connected, and where the metal of the helmet contacts the man's skin, but he is breathing and still in blissful ignorance]

Woah... Reira, you did it!

Hmhmmmm~!

[Excuse her, she's Very proud of this.] Yeah!! And now whenever you have to eat, no one will be dead!

[Ignore the arrhythmia!]

Man....

[Suddenly, Sonic grabs Reira and gives her a BIG HUG. It'd be bone-crushing for a human! But for another monster it's just a little uncomfortable. Metal body and all... He does keep it short at least. His eyes show a watery, wibbly animation]

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Heheheee..!! [Uncomfortable though it may be, Reira doesn't mind. If anything she only grins wide, the emotional display catching. It's a step forward, for Sonic. It's a step to success, to happiness, to living here and living.

It's something he doesn't have to let build, and build, and build until he's buried beneath the ground, and she'll take a thousand awkward and painful hugs for that.]

And now, we know what we can do every month..~

Ah... That's a big relief. I mean... It's not great. [he still wants to go home. He still wants to stand on the bluffs above his home town again. To hug his friends. To watch movies with Ozzy. But it's better than the head explody from before] But it'll work. It's way better than... what happened before. [both the explosion and the losing his goddamn mind]

Yeah!

[She won't clarify. For his sake.]

If we just use this, then that's good enough for until it's gone for good!
